Martin Crowley and John Paul DeJoria founded Patrón Tequila in 1989. While Crowly was on a business trip in Mexico, DeJoria asked him to bring back some tequila. Crowly returned with an attractive hand-blown tequila bottle and an idea to launch a brand. Recognizing the lack of decent tequila in the States, DeJoria agreed to give it a shot. Together, they embarked on a quest to Jalisco, the heartland of tequila production, where they met with renowned tequila distiller Francisco Alcaraz. Alcaraz, who had a rich history and in-depth knowledge of tequila manufacture, became instrumental in creating Patrón. They decided to utilize traditional tequila production methods, such as using the Tahona wheel to crush the agave, combined with modern techniques to ensure unparalleled smoothness and quality. As DeJoria and Crowley embarked on the journey to introduce Patrón to the world, they faced the monumental task of shifting cultural perceptions around tequila, transforming it from a party liquor to a luxury sipper, and laying the foundation for what is now an iconic global brand.
We are honored to welcome Patron's National Brand Ambassador, Roberto Núñez Moreno, for this special evening. We will begin with a cocktail reception at 6 pm, followed by a seated, 4-course menu created by Chefs Hugo and Ruben Ortega. The menu is inspired by Mexican Independence Day, and each course is paired with a Patron tequila cocktail or spirit.
